Editor’s Note: This is the third of our 3-part blog series on WaW Funny Wedding Proposal Stories that we’ve gathered from our WaWies. This time, we’ve got sprockets and buses involved. Enjoy![/x_text][/x_column][/x_row][/x_section][x_section style=”margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; padding: 45px 0px 45px 0px; “][x_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” bg_color=”” style=”margin: 0px auto 0px auto; padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; “][x_column bg_color=”” type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; “][x_text]Melly
Franz proposed on July 5, 2015 at Breakfast at Antonio’s in Tagaytay. Even before the proposal, we were already preparing for our 2017 wedding. He knew that I was expecting a proposal any time soon. I was even reminding him of the things I wanna experience during the proposal, haha. You see, nearly every girl in this world dreams of receiving an engagement ring from her prince charming.
I told Franz that I do not need an expensive ring. I even (half) joked about only wanting a cheap ring from since my kuripot self will probably turn hysterical at the sight of a fancy ring on proposal day.
That joke seemed to have backfired when he said he would give me 11 titanium rings, instead. He was actually referring to the sprockets found on racing bikes, since my road bike then only had an entry level gear set and the one he mentioned will surely level up my game (we’re newbie triathletes kasi).
Anyway, this made my eyes roll and told him, “bigyan mo naman ako ng singsing! (give me a ring!)”
He kept on pushing for that proposal idea, jokingly suggesting that he’d place one “ring” per finger. I’d get upset whenever he’d tell me that, but I always convince myself that he’s just trying to veer me away from finding out about his plan.
Franz chose to propose on the same day our friend proposed to his girlfriend because I was busy helping ironing out the plan. He knew I wouldn’t suspect his proposal plan as I was too preoccupied.
To make the long story short(er), our friend’s proposal was a success and we planned to have a celebratory lunch somewhere in Tagaytay. My best friend suggested Breakfast at Antonio’s and we all agreed.
When we’re all seated, our friend Jason handed me a gift. I asked what it is, but he just insisted that I open it to find out. It was then I realized that everyone seemed so giddy. “Mag po-propose na ata,” I thought.
I didn’t want to open it at first, because I felt that it was going to be THAT day. After a while, I decided to open it, and Voila! There they were! The 11 titanium sprockets that he’d been joking about!!!
Of course, I freaked out! Cameras were all out, but Franz wasn’t able to kneel and pop the question because I gave him an upset stare and violently asked where my engagement ring was.
“Asan yung singsing?!?!?!” I asked.
My friends all laughed and the restaurant guests seemed to have felt sorry for Franz, hahaha. He pulled out the ring and slid it on my finger, and that’s it. We’re finally engaged!
We had a little argument after that, because he knew I wanted a private proposal – only us! Franz laughed and said he did not forget about that. He explained that I was too suspicious and that I gave him a hard time executing his proposal. Somehow, he said, his plan was a success because I was clueless. Hahahaha!

One afternoon, sinundo niya ako sa work. Our routine was we will just wait for the bus bound to Laguna inside the car. So while waiting, he asked me “Pa’no mo gusto ako mag-propose sayo?”
I answered, “Hay nako! Mag-propose ka na lang, okay na sa akin!” I was just teasing him kasi nga mukhang wala naman s’ya balak mag propose with a ring.
Madalas naman s’ya magtanong if I will marry him. Feeling ko lang hindi binding pag walang ring, HAHAHA!
And then, right there and then, bigla niya binuksan yung small compartment sa harap ng passenger seat – may red box!
We were both laughing. No one’s talking.
Nangingilid na luha ko kakatawa. Siya din tawa ng tawa. Ganun kami for quite some time.
Tapos biglang may bus. Hindi pa nya nao-open yung box!
I had to go kasi if I let the bus leave me, 45 minutes ang aantayin ko. And I was so overwhelmed. I needed to breathe, haha!
Sabi ko, “next time na lang, bye!” And we were still laughing. He didn’t get to open the box.
He didn’t feel bad that I left. The question came 2 weeks later.
Sabi niya buti daw nagkaroon ako ng 2 weeks to think kasi feeling niya hindi pa din ako makakasagot kung nung time na `yun s’ya nagtanong.
Atat lang daw ako for the proposal pero alam n’yang hindi ako makakasagot agad, haha!
