The Story of the Php100,000 WaW Wedding

“A Php100,000 wedding? Ang saya siguro kung sama-sama tayo sa isang wedding!”

Over breakfast while at Abe’s Farm in Pampanga, these suppliers were chatting when an idea came to them. What if they work together in one wedding? Imagine 15 of the brightest wedding suppliers working taking care of one wedding. How lucky must the bride feel to have these amazing suppliers work on her big day!

This simple idea started the ball rolling. It was an idea of a fun project to give one lucky bride to have her dream wedding for just Php100,000. This was a #wawlovinlimangfamilia history.

After all the laughter and stories, we were positive we would definitely have fun working together. It would be efficient, too, since we all knew each other already. So we pooled common dates, thought of what we can contribute, and finalized a rate that’s a mere fraction of our fees combined.

The Mechanics

LovinLimangFamiliaPromo

WaW LovinlimangFamilia14

The mechanics were pretty simple. We wanted a WaWie to become the recipient of this promo because we also wanted to give back to WaW for being such a blessing to all of us. It so happened that it was the 15th year of WaW, thus, the choice of our promo name.

Couples sent in entries, we read through them, and eventually we voted on a winner.

The Wedding Day

March 27, 2015 was a highly anticipated date. Everyone was excited to see everyone. Yes, their preps venue Crosswinds and ceremony/reception venue Angelfields radiated a sense of anticipation and lots of energy from suppliers, who wanted to do well.

Tippy Dee and team waved their wands, err… their brushes and curling irons. Events by Thoffy and Kiss the Girl Events worked together as though they had been coordinating together for some time.

Boy Kastner Santos arrived with the most awaited bridal gown and groom’s suit. These were complemented by the bouquet and boutonnière of Serge Igonia, who also provided the floral needs of the entourage and the ceremony
aisle.

WaW LovinlimangFamilia8

Alex Ruelo of ImagineNation as lead photographer, Mezarc Buslon and team as auxiliary photographers, and Aisle 1401 as videographers got busy right away documenting everything in sight, including the two-tone unity coins from WeddingsatWork.

More details at the ceremony stage and reception registration area came as a result of the working hands of Moki Gray Designs. Wires for lights and sounds were meticulously laid out by Rejectkrew Professional Lights & Sounds by Elmer Bautista as toy cakes and pastries arrived with the couple’s thematic cake.

WaW LovinlimangFamilia9

WaW LovinlimangFamilia10

Before the ceremony ended, Perfect 10 Weddings by Darlene Tan-Salazar arrived. That signaled the completion of Kerby and Arra’s Lovin’ Limang Familia.

The Lovin’ Limang Familia proved to be a fun moment for the suppliers. It was a fitting celebration for WeddingsatWork’s 15th anniversary. Should we do this again? 🙂

Happy Andrada Launches Spring/Summer 2016 Bridal Collection

Every bride wants to beautiful on her wedding day. When a bride walks down the aisle, the best feelings are happiness and giddiness because she is about to marry the man of her dreams. That ‘kilig’ factor is what designer Happy Andrada wants her every bride to feel.

We are happy to show Happy’s Spring/Summer 2016 Bridal Collection and we are definitely swooning over how gorgeous the gowns are. We asked Happy to share more about her new collection.

What is your collection about?

It is my Spring/ Summer 2016 collection for brides, bridesmaids and flower girls.

WaW Happy Andrada1When did you start working on the collection ?

I started my new line early this year. It took me around six months to finish it as I balanced time with bridal clients and working on my collection.

What are the rewards/fulfillment in coming up with a collection?

The best reward is to be able to showcase my creations to my clients and to show them what a Happy Andrada bride is all about. 🙂

WaW Happy Andrada4What’s the inspiration behind the new collection?

I took inspiration from spring and blushing brides. I want it to be fun, young, fresh, and fab. I played around with layers, patterns, treatments and textures.

WaW Happy Andrada2When a bride sees the gown, what do you want her to think or feel?

I want them to feel giddy/kilig and, of course, happy!

WaW Happy Andrada3The photos are gorgeous. Who did you work with for the shoot?

It was a collaboration with different partners. The flowers and set design was from Designer Blooms and photography was by Darrel Pobre.

WaW Happy Andrada7Are you planning to have an event to formally launch the collection?

We are finalizing the details but we will definitely let you know.

WaWparazzi: Princess Sarah Is Engaged!

We’re talking about Camille Prats, the actress who brought the much-loved cartoon character Princess Sarah to life. Last July 18, she said yes to the marriage proposal of her non-showbiz boyfriend VJ Yambao after two years of being together.

This would be her second marriage. Camille was first married in 2008 to Anthony Linsangan. The union bore a son named Nathaniel Caesar. Anthony, however, succumbed to nasopharyngeal cancer in 2011.

But love found her again and she met VJ. They officially became an item in December 2013.

WaW Camille Pratts Engagement4

The back story

VJ and I would casually talk about his plans to propose few weeks after the wedding of John Prats and Isabel Oli last May. He had great exciting plans for the proposal. There were a lot of ideas that came up but at the end of it all, one thing was evident–VJ wanted it to be very special for Camille.

He was very sure of three things. One, it had to be in Nayomi resort, which is owned by the Prats family, because this is a place close to the hearts of the Prats family, including Camille

Two, VJ wants all the family members and close friends of Camille to be present.

WaW Camille Pratts Engagement17

Three, Nathan, Camille’s son from her first marriage, had to be part of the big proposal.

WaW Camille Pratts Engagement13

Most memorable moments

There were so many tear-jerking and heartwarming moments during the marriage proposal. The top moments for me were:

One, when Nathan shed tears of joy while watching the AVP prepared by VJ.

WaW Camille Pratts Engagement10

Two, seeing Camille cry all throughout the surprise, most especially when she was still unsure of what was happening upon entering the venue, and yet she was already shedding buckets of tears. It was such a beautiful moment.

WaW Camille Pratts Engagement8

Three, when Camille hugged her dad. It was such a touching father-daughter moment.

WaW Camille Pratts Engagement11

Four, when Camille said, “Tonight, my little boy and I got engaged to VJ.” It’s so touching to know that Nathan will also find a new dad in VJ.

WaW Camille Pratts Engagement19

But don’t just take my word for it. Here are the photos from the big proposal. Enjoy!

Color Play: Red and Yellow

WeddingsatWork reader Mary Jane Mendoza posted a comment on Tisha Rosales’ Blush article: “How would you do it if its yellow and red? My favorite color is yellow while my fiance is red. Looking forward to your insights. ” Check out Tisha‘s thoughts in her second article for Color Play.

Hi Jane!

The red and yellow palette is very unique! It takes a confident couple to pull off that combo. It’s not a common pairing, which can, in fact, be a reason for your wedding to be a standout. The colors can actually allow you to play with themes.

WaW Color Play Red and Yellow

Summer
Bright, poppy red mixed with lemon yellow creates a summery feel. Flowers you can play with are roses, gerberas and button mums. You can even add real red apples (remembers those small ones that can easily fit in your palm) and lemons for your table centerpieces.

Autumn
If you opt for darker hues, you can channel a different season: autumn. Mix the yellow with the deeper shade of wine red and add chocolate brown and you’ve got a fall theme. You can even add orange for a midway color. A dose of champagne gold will bring a subtle and elegant touch to your hues.

WaW Color Play Red and Yellow2
Bouquets
You will also have a great time thinking of the flowers for your bouquet. Flowers like roses and gerberas can be a good combo.

WaW Color Play Red and Yellow3

Red roses and yellow calla lilies can be another elegant choice.

WaW Color Play Red and Yellow4

How about a little bit of country with sunflowers and red roses? Why not!

WaW Color Play Red and Yellow5

It can even be fun for your entourage, too!

WaW Color Play Red and Yellow6

I hope Color Play was able to help you with your wedding colors. Enjoy your wedding preps!

Harold and Len

Groom Harol and bride Len were wed in March 7, 2015.

Len is one of the active members of WeddingsatWork YahooGroups. In this month’s WaW Weddings, we are featuring their wedding. Take a look at how to prepared for their big day.

Motif and Theme

I have always wanted a day garden reception. It seems more relaxed and more cheerful. I wanted it bright and sun so what better color to pick than yellow?

What were your fears prior to the wedding? How did you deal with it?

They say that sometimes brides-to-be will have nightmares about their wedding day. And yes, it did happen to me. I was afraid of not being able to book all the needed suppliers on time. I was afraid of rain, and that some of the suppliers won’t deliver what was agreed upon.

Photo: Jeff and Lisa Photography
They were the first ones I booked since I like their clean and non-pretentious shots. I booked them first right after I got engaged since I just fell in love with their shots at my friends wedding.

WaW Weddings Harol and Len1

WaW Weddings Harol and Len2Video: Joaquin Ambata
It was my coordinator that suggested him. She said that what’s unique about him is he really makes an effort to make each of his videos unique, depending on the couples personality. Look through his work and you will see how unique each video is. This is the link to our SDE.

Bridal and entourage gown Ryan Madamba
I loooove my gown! He became my friend and I loooove how he stayed beside me during the wedding and how he prayed with me before the church door opened. He is real nice and talented. We both love Ellie Saab, so if that’s your style, simple and elegant do check him out. His instagram is @byryanmadamba

WaW Weddings Harol and Len3

WaW Weddings Harol and Len4Coat: Gardini
Easy transaction, looks good and very affordable. I highly recommend them. They also rent suits so should your entourage need one you can recommend them.

WaW Weddings Harol and Len5Make up artist Chi Chi Sotomil
Perfect!!!! I did a lot of trial make-ups with various make-up artists. I am very particular with make-up. She is just perfect. She did both my pre-nup and wedding day make-up. I will return to her for special events.

WaW Weddings Harol and Len6Entourage Mua: Joy Ramirez
His team is the one in charge of all my grad pics since med school. Very affordable at 800 per head within Manila and 1000 if out of town (Rates apply as of Len’s wedding). Everyone looked pretty. They also arrived very early and can d0 make-ups very fast with high quality.

WaW Weddings Harol and Len24Coordinator: Joed See Events
Joed is my grade school friend so I booked her right away. Without bias, I can say her team is amazing. I had no problems during the wedding day and the days before that. Highly recommended.

Flowers Sweetstems
I got to know her through WaW and I liked her posts at Facebook. I loved my bridal bouquet and so did the
photographers.

WaW Weddings Harol and Len8Host: Darlene Tan Salazar
Stress-free. The guests all raved about how good she is. And it’s like having a second coordinator. I really don’t need to explain how good she is. Everyone knows about her here at WaW.

Invites: Global Invitations
Pros: cheap and really good-looking. Everyone can’t stop raving about our passport invite. Everyone loved it. They’re a bit to transact with, though, so you have to be super duper kulit like me.

WaW Weddings Harol and Len9Cake: Joy San Gabriel
Her cake just tastes soooooo good and her style is very elegant. They are also so sweet as they gave us wedding presents. Joy San Gabriel can be more expensive compared to other cake suppliers but if taste is important to you, you will love her. Amaretto is such a winner!

WaW Weddings Harol and Len10Caterer: k by Cunanan
They were my non-negotiable. Everyone can’t stop talking about how good the food is. I also love their styling ever since. It was a bit hard to transact with them and the response time was long. Communication, however,  improved weeks before my wedding so it was worth it.

WaW Weddings Harol and Len23

Preps: Villa Ibarra
I booked them since the hotel has a good view and only has eight rooms. It was easy to reserve all the rooms, which we did. So, the night before it was only family in the whole hotel.

WaW Weddings Harol and Len11

WaW Weddings Harol and Len12Church: San Antonio de Padua Silang
Perfect is all I have to say.

Reception: Two Gardens Tagaytay
I fell in love with this place at first sight. Easy transaction, kind owners, beautiful garden.

WaW Weddings Harol and Len14

Prenup Photographer: Allan Lizardo
He is based in Singapore but goes home here sometimes. A WaW Directory classified ads find, he is really good and very affordable.

Souvenir: Flipbooks
We were not able to get one for us. They closed early kasi may next wedding. Guests enjoyed it, though.

Band: Mhadz and Dzhei
Very good and very affordable. Easy to transact with them. No regrets at all.

WaW Weddings Harol and Len25

Rings: Mayfair

WaW Weddings Harol and Len20

I’m also happy with rest of my suppliers. They did not cause any headache.
Lights and sounds: Artuz101
Generator: All Scope
LED Wall: Metrotech
Crew Meal: Packed Gourmet
Bridal Car: Don Roberts Studebaker
Rings: Mayfair
Souvenir from divi personalized shot glasses from Tabora. Really good-looking at 20 per piece with packaging na.

How did the WeddingsAtWork community help you during wedding preps?

A lot. Not only did WaW help me scout for suppliers but more importantly, I was able to meet a lot of good friends. These are brides who shared the same anxiety with me about preparing for a wedding. And it’s only fellow brides to be that will understand how stressful it is to prepare for one.

What are the advantages/perks of being a WaWie?

Amazing new friends. Learning about supplier feedback is a bonus.

Message or tips to WaW community?
I think that it’s better to meet the people in person. So if you have time to attend at least one of the community’s events, do so. Meeting Mimma is always a pleasure. Looking at how she has started this community is amazing. Weddings are one of the happiest yet sometimes stressful events in ones life and what better way to prepare for it than to meet new friends and have tons of fun and girl chikahan along the way.

WaWparazzi: The Elvis-Alexa Gutierrez Wedding

Last June 26, 2015, Elvis Gutierrez, one of the six kids of power couple Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama tied the knot in Santuario de San Antonio Parish in Forbes Park.

Groom Elvis was emotional and teary-eyed all throughout the processional. His parents Eddie and Anabelle and Richard look on.

WaWparazzi Nice Print Elvis and Alexa6

In the speech of Richard the best man, he mentioned that 3.5 months in a year, Elvis and twins Richard/Raymond become triplets since they were born only nine months apart.

Elvis and Alexa have been a couple for the last nine years and the most challenging times were the time when Alexa had to move to the US to study. Elvis would often visit her there during those times. They said the long-distance relationship made their relationship stronger.

WaWparazzi Nice Print Elvis and Alexa10

The bride wore an Albert Andrada creation 🙂

What a huge gigantic beautiful cake it was!

WaWparazzi Nice Print Elvis and Alexa11

The Bethany dream cakes creation drew inspiration from the concept that the bride herself chose. It’s a cake that’s cut in the middle adorned with soooo many fresh pastel flowers.

Alexa hand picked her bridesmaids and maids of honor consisting of family and best friends. Her now sister-in-law Ruffa was one of the maids of honor. Also part of the entourage Sarah Lahbati, Richard Gutierrez’ girlfriend along with her other best friend.

Ruffa, who is the only girl in the Gutierrez children, is always always the life of the party. She is the “ate,” whom all of the Gutierrez boys look up to. They always describe her as the most generous and most supportive.

WaWparazzi Nice Print Elvis and Alexa2

Mommy Anabelle happily looks on as the two were pronounced husband and wife. During her speech, mommy Anabelle was not hiding the fact that Elvis is her most favorite child. She said that Elvis is such a kindhearted boy and that he will always be her baby. She fondly calls Elvis Taba or Bobot.

These two are always sweet and generous with their appreciation of our photo/video output and hard work that’s why I truly love them 🙂 They are the key as to why I was able to start being trusted with the photo/video needs of the Gutierrez family. My first-ever coverage for them was the much talked about coming out/birthday/baptism of Zion. 🙂 Since then we have been capturing numerous events for them including, the birthdays of Ruffa, Zion (including his pre-birthday shoot,) Sarah, Venice and Annabelle Rama.

Zandra Lim Launches Ready to Wed Designs

Zandra Lim Designs has just launched her Ready to Wed bridal collection. The launch was held on June 23, 2015 at Edsa Shangri-La Hotel.

Zandra has graciously shared some photos of her new line. We also asked her to share her thoughts about the new Ready to Wed by Zandra Lim Designs.

Where did you draw your inspiration in designing this collection?

I draw inspiration from everything. But mostly I think of my brides and how they would want to feel when they see the gowns. I imagine them trying it on and also imagine a pleasant gasp and a this-is-it-moment.

Do you have a personal favorite from the collection? If yes, why?

Yes, that would be gown #0623 from the Prestige Collection because if I were a bride, that design evokes my personality and the cut fits me perfectly.

WaW Zandra Lim Ready to Wed11

WaW Zandra Lim Ready to Wed12

What do you want your brides to feel or think when they wear your collection?

This is my RTW’s singular vision—to provide designs that provokes the spirit and imagination of a bride’s most awaited wedding day. That is the premise of the wedding gown fitting and purchasing. Come wedding day, I hope the gown choice will them feel elegant, resplendent, and grand…just I always dreamed it would be.

A Great Father’s Day Gift from Globe

It was such a thrill for us when Globe myBusiness contacted us to be Brand Ambassador. It was a shoot done by Paolo Ruiz, a wedding supplier we met for the first time finally after so many years. It’s our first time to work on a shoot with a production house and an ad agency, complete with brand reps. It was oh-so corporate and we were basking in the attention and care given to us.

It will be an experience we will forever remember.

To all dads and to our very own Didda… Happy Father’s Day!

Through Our Fathers’ Eyes

While the wedding day is probably the most exciting moment in a bride’s or a groom’s life, we probably can’t say the same thing for a dad. The day can be filled with mixed emotions. Excitement because there’s a new member of the family. Overwhelming love because all the people that he loves is gathered in one joyous occasion. At the same time, there’s probably a teeny bitty of dread because it feels like losing someone.

In some cases, the dad may be either sick or has passed on. But even this may be the situation, couples still find a way to make them part of this beautiful milestone. Our love for our dads run deep. And today, Father’s Day, we show you how much dads love our brides and grooms. Bring out the tissues, everyone.
