WaW Dinner

[cs_content][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]Last November 25, we organized a dinner among some WaWies and some popular wedding suppliers. It was so fun that we decided to organize another WaWie Dinner tonight! Meanwhile, here’s Jezalin Panaligan to tell you the story of what happened during the first one.

What do you get when you bring together eight soon-to-weds, the woman behind W@W, and three of the most reputable suppliers in the wedding industry together in one dinner table? Six straight hours of spontaneous conversations, endless laughs and extremely valuable new learnings.

I was one of the lucky few who got a seat at that table. I joined the WaWies Facebook group exactly one month after getting engaged. One of my best friends who got married invited me to be part of the group. The group is overflowing with helpful topics from brides-to-be and even those who already “graduated.” One lucky evening, Mimma Benz posted an invite for a casual dinner with Jason, Madge, and Veluz. Seeing the opportunity to get to know fellow WaWies and hearing tips from the suppliers themselves, I reserved a slot.

We were told that it was going to be a casual dinner, we brought potluck desserts and snacks as Madge prepared the full-course dinner for us (I am seriously craving the salted-egg pasta as I type this! Hi MADGE!) but just a little over an hour before our planned meet-up time, Mimma shared photos of the set-up wonderfully curated by Ernest of Bespoke Manila. It suddenly leapt three notches higher with the fancy centerpiece, menu cards, and personalized place cards with gifts for each of the attendee. Our excitement just grew even more as we braved the Friday rush hour traffic![/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”2/3″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/WaWiesDinner10.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/3″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/WaWiesDinner8.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/3″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/WaWiesDinner7.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”2/3″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/WaWiesDinner13.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”2/3″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/WaWiesDinner16.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/3″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/WaWiesDinner9.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]Upon arriving at Jason’s house (which coincidentally was just 3 doors away from my sister’s previous house!) I could already smell the sumptuous dinner being prepared by Madge in the kitchen. Kat and Laurence’s story was fascinating. Both of them are dancers (that’s why the group has been pushing them to do a grand production during their wedding – we’re looking forward to your SDE, guys!)

“Over all experience was for me as a bride it was fun seeing and hearing from them in and outside of their element. And it was fun knowing that they were open to listen to our views as well. At the end of the day both parties want to enjoy and experience the “best day ever”. For the supplier it’s not just about making money but I saw the amount of passion they put in their area of expertise. Super appreciate the warm welcome they made us feel that night.” [/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/WaWiesDinner6_Khristian-and-Anna.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=”” class=”aligncenter”][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]Khristian and Anna

Anna came all the way from Las Pinas. And for all who lives in the South, you know it takes a lot of effort, patience and willpower to brave the Makati Friday rush hour.

The thing that struck me most that night was when we asked Veluz what the most important thing is in a wedding, and I was surprised when she said makeup. Obviously, I thought she was going to say the gown! I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter even if your gown is couture, if your make up is wrong, you will look wrong. And thanks to their advices, I also now know not to color my hair blonde (I used to be and I was thinking of bleaching it again for my wedding) as it will ruin the whole look. Thank you sooooo much!”[/cs_text][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/WaWiesDinner2_Benz-with-Jez.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=”” class=”aligncenter”][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]

Even then, the conversations carried on and even continued via Facebook Messenger!

Being a Project Manager by profession, and because the learning we picked up are too good to be kept within our small circle, I immediately shared a “Minutes of the Meeting” to the WaWies Facebook Group and now we’re sharing them here as well.

(Disclaimer: these were pulled from memory so they are not verbatim and should not be taken as a direct quote from each supplier. Mimma Benz, Madge and Veluz

[/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]Tips from Veluz:

  • Don’t neglect the groom. For barong, the inner should be long sleeved and UNTUCKED! The neckline should be not too tight and not too loose (kasya 1 finger lang). Also – NO boutonniere for barong.
  • Your wedding gown should show your personality but please don’t put crazy details like nipa hut or coconut tree design
  • Nothing should stick out from your gown. If any part of your body stands out too much (boobs, butt, etc) then it’s probably not a good fit. Should not be “Wow ang ganda ng <part of the body> mo jan!” but rather, “Ang ganda mo. Period” — same goes for makeup. Not too harsh contours or eyebrows that it pops up.
  • Just because you look good in that cut in other dresses doesn’t automatically mean you will look good in that same cut for your wedding gown. The fabric and the color are totally different. Trust your stylist when they tell you that your peg may not look good on you.
  • Change your hair color BEFORE your final fitting as changing your hair color could change your whole look
  • Don’t look down when you have your veil in place. Look straight ahead.

[/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/WaWiesDinner5_Jason-and-Madge.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=”” class=”aligncenter”][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]Tips from Jason:

  • For key moments or if something is happening in the program, ask your L&S supplier to use WHITE light. Leave the mood lighting to the tables.
  • Minimize theatrics (smoke, bubbles, butterflies, etc.) Natural is best.
  • Be conscious of the lighting for the church. Natural light is better. Blue light is not flattering on the skin tone
  • It’s usually the Photographer that leads and dictates the shots / poses, the videographers just really capture the moment
  • Consider to actually spend time with your guests and not just hi-hello-bye. Maybe you can do away with the grand entrance and mingle with them during cocktails
  • The Barong/Suit should be custom-fit. It’s obvious if the sleeves are too long or if the coat jacket is too big! (And this is not something they can edit out in videos)

[/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]Tips from Madge:

  • No-make up make up is actually more difficult to pull off than contouring or smoky eyes. Allot some time for this.
  • If you’re happy with what you see (ex: your make up), be satisfied with it and don’t listen if anyone else says otherwise.
  • Go with timeless look. Don’t go with what’s trending. Make sure that when you look back on your photos you won’t tell yourself “bakit ko nga ba ginawa yan?”
  • When going for hair pegs, find something that is close to your hair color. Sometimes a hairstyle for a blonde won’t look as good for dark hair
  • If you plan on colouring your hair, please inform both your HMUA and your wedding gown designer. It will greatly affect the whole picture. As Filipinas, we have a yellowish skin tone so baka biglang hindi na siya bagay sa shade of your gown. If kailangan talaga magpakulay, go for highlights instead.
  • Updo! Messy hair under a veil is hard to Photoshop

[/cs_text][cs_text]Tips from Mimma Benz:

  • Do your research. Even if other brides are raving about a particular supplier, sometimes if they suddenly get hyped too much and their clients increase dramatically, their ability to deliver might get affected.
  • Get a good coordinator! Walang sinabi ang ganda ng suppliers mo if your coordinator is not professional.
  • BE HONEST with your suppliers. If you’re not happy about something, tell them. They also want you to be happy.
  • Meeting fellow WaWies in person really helps to build the community ‘coz it helps to build credibility and concern for one another when you have actually spent time with them already face to face.

Since being engaged, I have probably read hundreds of wedding tips already from binge-reading The W@W Wedding Primer, browsing through the WaWies Facebook Group and Yahoogroup and scrolling through various blogs and articles, but nothing beats hearing it first-hand from industry experts especially when you feel the passion and sincerity in their voices and gestures.

My co-WaWie, Mitch. has said it better, “Before the dinner, I thought I was just a bride to be who was lucky enough to be one of the first people to meet the Jason Magbanua because of this online group I joined a few months back. Bearing in mind, I was overseas when I joined and was not really that active so I did not know the extent of the Weddings at Work community. Now that I’m back in [the] country and after getting to know more about the history of the group and meeting some new friends from it, I can truly say I am so happy! I’m not only referring to the group from the dinner where I got to meet incredible people, but WaW itself in general. The resources are very helpful once I figured out how to navigate the Yahoo Group and rapport in the FB page is so fun! The sisterhood that we share is quite unique and I realized that everyone here, especially Mimma, is willing to help you out of genuine kindness. That’s not something you see every day.” [/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/WaWiesDinner1.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=”” class=”aligncenter”][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]So, do we recommend having another W@WDinner run? A resounding YES! For both suppliers and brides/grooms-to-be, this would be a good venue to learn helpful tips and tricks, share wedding preparation and wedding day “hugots”, find comfort that you are not alone in your wedding paranoia / nitpicky-ness, and best of all, build new friendships! We’re are all so thankful to have been part of this amazing community.

Bob & Lette Nicolas Proposal

[cs_content][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]Bob & Lette Nicolas been a couple for a long time. They have 5 kids and planning their wedding already for next year. Last Friday, Bob surprised Lette with a proposal in a cinema.

Here’s the kuwento from Albert brother of Bob.

Benz:
Kwentuhan mo muna ako para alam ko what questions to ask.

Albert:
Wala na kasi siya maisip ibang way. Hahahaha! Hahahaha![/cs_text][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/BobandLetteNicolasProposal2.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=”” class=”aligncenter”][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/3″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/BobandLetteNicolasProposal3.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/3″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/BobandLetteNicolasProposal6.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/3″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/BobandLetteNicolasProposal4.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]Benz:
Anong pinanood ninyong pelikula?

Albert:
So, kanina after 5 trailers, ayun pinlay na namin yung 4-minuter video. Moana yung movie na screen kanina.

Benz:
Binook ni Bob buong cinema?

Albert:
Oo. 56 seats. Hahaha! Last full show ata yun eh.

Hahahaha!

Benz:
Sino mga may alam ng proposal?

Albert:
Bale ang may alam lang is Limacon, then ako, brothers ko and sisters. Then yung kids dun na lang din nila nalaman pagdating ng mall.

7:30 p.m. nagkita sila Limacon. Kumain muna then kunwari bili ticket pero di alam ni Ate Lette naka set up na kami dun sa loob. Then by 8 p.m. yun na showing na trailers then yung video. Hahahaha! Nagulat talaga siya.[/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/BobandLetteNicolasProposal7.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=”” class=”aligncenter”][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]Benz:
Kailan ito ni Bob na plano?

Albert:
Last Month ko lang din nalaman mga November 25. Pero nung sinabi sa akin nakabili na sila ng ring nun eh. Kakabili lang. So yun mga November ata siya nag plan. Haha! Sobrang kabado sya eh.

Benz:

Siyempre! Hahaha! Na-pressure nga yata eh. Lol!

WaW Wedding Tip Sheet: Invitations

[cs_content][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]We’ve been receiving inquiries regarding the preparation of invitations; thus, we thought of writing a blog post regarding the essentials.

Top 10 things you need to remember when writing and addressing your wedding invitations:

  1. Choose your invitation supplier based on the kind of invitation you like. Do not book anyone blindly then force them to come up with what you like — they may not have the equipment and you will end up forfeiting your down payment. Have a vision first regarding what you like, then book the supplier based on the said vision.
  2. Start conversing with your invitation supplier regarding the design (assuming you’re not choosing from a template), 6 to 8 months before you intend to release it, i.e. 1 to 2 months prior to your big day. Some opt for the 2-month mark so they don’t need to spend too much on sending invitations abroad via courier. Why am I giving such a wide margin? Because the design process can take long. Revisions can also take time. If you will choose a template from the library of the invitation supplier, you may lessen the time frame to around 3 months prior to your preferred distribution date. This makes room for printing queues and the like.
  3. While you are designing or even before you start conversing with your invitation supplier, especially if you’re choosing a template, get all full names and titles of your principal sponsors and your entourage. Make sure everything is correct and complete so you don’t need to ask your invitation supplier to revise because you wrote Mr. instead of Dr. or you chose to remove all titles but you eventually realized someone might get angry with the removal of the title. So much has been spent by so many couples on their invitations because of the need to reprint.

Tricky point: What if you’re inviting a mayor to be your godparent and your wedding date happens to be after elections? What if he loses? What if he wins but for a different position?

Response: Just write Hon. (short for Honorable) beside his name. That way, you won’t have to worry about whether or not he would win or change his position.

  1. After you get your first printout/draft printout, make sure you scrutinize everything — every letter of every name. Also, show it to your parents so if they have reactions, it won’t cost much to revise. It will cost a lot if you will show them the already-printed batch of invites and they have concerns which will cause you to reprint.

Possible concerns:

a. wrong spelling/wrong title

b. they also invited other possible godparents or entourage members without telling you in advance

c. you forgot to include your parents’ names or their appropriate titles

Note: Some invite makers will ask you to sign a form that you read all the items of the invite and you agree that it should be the version that gets printed. Make sure you really read all words included in the invite. That way, no problem will arise later on when you get the whole batch of printouts.

[/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/WeddingTipSheet_Invitations1.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=”” class=”aligncenter”][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]

  1. How do you write your parents’ names?

The most common way of presenting the names would be this way:

With the blessings of

Names of Groom’s Parents (Jose and Maria Cruz)

and

Names of Bride’s Parents (Andres and Susan Santos)

You may also use the following in case one of the parents has passed on. Please do not forget to put a small cross beside the name of the deceased parent.

Juan

son of Jose (+) and Sita Cruz

and

Maria

daughter of Rene and Lilia Santos

  1. Should the groom’s name come first? Or should the bride’s name come first?

It should be the groom’s name that should come first, as per tradition here in Asia.

To continue from the example earlier:

With the blessings of our parents

(state their names)

We

John and Mary

request the honour* of your presence

as we consecrate our union

through the Sacrament of Matrimony

on

the first of June two thousand and seventeen*

at half past three in the afternoon*

in the Church of the Child Jesus,

111 Aguirre Avenue, Paranaque City

Reception follows at (venue)

Street, City

If one parent is deceased:

Juan

son of Jose (+) and Sita Cruz

and

Maria

daughter of Rene and Lilia Santos

request the honour of your presence

as they consecrate their union

through the Sacrament of Matrimony…

Note:

a. The items with asterisk (*): spelling out dates and time slots are necessary for formal invitations. It is also necessary to use “honour” instead of the usual American spelling, “honor”.

b. It is acceptable to write a thirty-minute leeway for the time of ceremony. It gives everyone time to sit down, to line up, to get hold of the items needed (bouquets, paraphernalia). It is not very good to write a one-hour leeway, because it would mean a long wait for guests who come in punctually. We do not want to punish them for being one time.

c. You may write a reception time if you’re observing what is termed as broken time, i.e. a ceremony at 1PM then a reception at 6PM

[/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/WeddingTipSheet_Invitations2.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=”” class=”aligncenter”][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]

  1. How should we write the godparents’ names? Is it necessary to include titles?

Yes, you should include each person’s specific title. This is applicable to parents and godparents. They worked hard to have these titles; thus, we should give their hard work due recognition.

For political titles, you may use “Hon.” short for “Honorable” if you’re not sure of the title (given the period of elections during your printing of invitations). You may also use the same title for those who with long titles stating their positions in government.

Please note:

You should visit your prospective godparent before you write his/her name on the invitation. Each one should have the prerogative to say yes or no to your invitation for him or her to be godparent. Also, you must get the full name and title he/she wishes to use. Do not assume to know the full name and title. Once you make a mistake, you will risk offending someone who is supposed to be your second parent.

  1. How about the entourage?

The entourage usually consist of people who are close to the couple. However, since the invitation is a formal document, I would still suggest having their titles there. You may have an agreement with them not to say their titles anymore during the reception introduction because you’d like it to be informal or you’d like to have a dancing type of entrance.

*Note: If there are people with no specific titles, you may write “Mr.” or “Ms.” (the latter can be used even for married individuals).

Example:

Mr. Juan dela Cruz

Atty. Leandro Vergara

Engr. Mario Hernandez

[/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/WeddingTipSheet_Invitations3.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=”” class=”aligncenter”][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]

  1. How about the RSVP card?

You can include the following items:

a. RSVP Part

To reserve _____ seat/s, please send your name/s to our coordinator on or before (2 weeks prior to the big day). Should you wish to express your regrets, we would appreciate a message as well.

Name of Coordinator, Contact Details (number and e-mail address)

b. Attire Part

Strictly Formal

*This notation is usually enough to convey that males need to wear suits/barongs and females need to wear long gowns.

However, it’s a good idea to spell out attire options or add a card with illustrations especially if the venue calls for certain clothing or footwear.

c. Map Part

This one needs an illustration and if the venue is a bit hard to find, you may add written instructions with landmarks.

d. How about the children?

You may use this poem if you wish to ask people to leave the kids at home. I wrote this for one of my brides.

We want you to enjoy the night;

Give kids time to sleep tight.

We thought it’s but right,

To make this a “for adults” invite.

e. How about monetary gifts?

It’s better to avoid asking for an enveloped gift directly, i.e. you may just state “The couple will reside abroad.” or “The couple will continue to reside abroad.” to give the hint that you would find it difficult to carry boxes of gifts.

10) How does one address invites?

You may follow this format: Mr. and Mrs. Jose and Maria Cruz

Their titles should be used in case they have those.

Examples:

Mayor and Mrs. Albert and Julia Cruz

Attorneys John and Micaela dela Cruz

Doctors Bryan and Bianca Santos

Mr. and Engr. Leo and Tess Vargas**

Mr. and Dr. Rene and Lilia Santos**

Even if the main invitee is the godmother, you will still need to use the format earlier, i.e. Mr. and Mrs. Marco and Lea Atanacio.

Note: In the part with two asterisks (**), the wives have specific titles.

Harry Potter DIY Wedding

[cs_content][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]I’ve always wanted a Harry Potter wedding but I was always scared it would look like a birthday party so we initially had a “Starry, starry night” theme; the colors are: Silver, Gray, Navy Blue, Royal Blue and White. However, the Potterhead in me wouldn’t shut up so six months before the wedding, I told my then fiancé that I can make a “Harry Potter” theme work. So we kept the colors which is “luckily” the colors of Ravenclaw which has been my Hogwarts house forever.

We wanted to stay on budget so I opted to do the Harry Potter elements wedding by myself. I love DIYs and I felt that I can do this.

The invitations were designed by my good friend Arni Santiago and I was the one to print, cut and glue the pieces together. After a few days and a couple of glues emptied, our Marauder’s map invitations were done!  For the envelopes, I always wanted them wax sealed so we bought a wax seal kit from Lazada.[/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/2″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/HarryPotterDIY1.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/2″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/HarryPotterDIY3.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ class=”cs-ta-center center-text” style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/HarryPotterDIY2.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]I always wanted a unique ring holder and my then fiancé told me I could make a golden snitch and I am so glad I did![/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/2″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/HarryPotterDIY4.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/2″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/HarryPotterDIY5.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]And what better way to guide our guests to their seats than a bottle of Felix Felicis? WaW Before I Do: What Would I Say If I Were Your Best Man or Maybe Even The Father of The Bride?

[cs_content][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]This is just a thinking out loud article so please pardon me. What if you got John Mateos Ong to be your best man and do a 10 minute speech during the reception about making your marriage work what would he say? Here are the top 5 things on my mind…

Invite Jesus in – This is the most important thing you can do so don’t take it for granted. You can go to church, you can pray (or at least murmur a bunch of words) and even read the bible but if you have not surrendered yourself then it’s all useless. When I say Surrender it means the same as how a soldier would surrender himself to the enemy. It means stopping the the fight, giving up and allowing him. It means submitting yourself to God’s will, His rules and dominion over you realizing and believing what he wants is the best for you. You may not agree with it 100% but you know in case you don’t see eye to eye — He’s probably right and you’re probably wrong.

It’s a process – Marriage is not the end, its the start of a new journey and from here I wanna ask you where you want to go. Do you want to make it heavenly or hell like? What must you do? Here are some suggestions:

  • Dating never stops after marriage.
  • Be in a group that regularly asks – How is marriage? How can it improve?
  • Get into annual marriage retreats where you can enjoy each other and know more about each other.

Leave your baggage – Since today is the starting point, I think this is a must. Your problems and issues must be left in the past life. Accept each other as a whole, flaws and all. Unfortunately, you can’t be selective in what you want to accept in your spouse like “I love your sweetness but I hate your snoring so lets separate rooms at night”. No! it’s all part of the package…

Remember you are a team – You don’t lose your individual identities. I am still John and Monique is still Monique but you have to learn to start thinking about the “US”. Purchases, trips or decisions that affect the family. You two are on the same team and never against each other. Problems start when you start thinking she’s my enemy.

Do things together and be together – I wrote an article a few months back about doing things together and these things best done when you are together physically. I am sad when one person needs to be away for several months for work. I get homesick and miss my family the minute I get on the plane. It is not how God designed it.

As I end this article, my encouragement for all husbands & wives is to be passionate about your role as husband and wife. When I discovered photography, I didn’t just buy a camera. I researched on it’s history, I bought books, watched videos, attended seminars and workshops… I cleaned my camera day and night and took it wherever I went. I would talk about it with friends sharing new discoveries that I learned. When I’m not doing anything, I would open my laptop and look at my pictures to see how I can improve. That’s passion! And if we can be like this with something as simple as photography why can we not do the same for marriage? Wives should hunger to become the best wife she can be and how they can serve their husbands best… and husbands should be on-fire at becoming the best husband and loving their wives like no one can (except for God).

What is the story behind the concept of each RTW dress?

You know whenever I work on a wedding gown design I always draw inspiration from the bride because it is imperative that I show her character thru her dress. It is different with RTW dresses since I do not have a specific bride. So I draw inspiration from the essence of being a bride. What it means to be one, the joy, the excitement, the changes that will happen. Basically the girl in that stage of her life. I guess it is not that difficult because I’ve been there so I can totally get her 😛

As always, I want my brides to relate to the dress. Each dress I make cater to a certain character. I want the bride to see herself in the dress that she will choose. Of course, considering her figure, her age and the silhouette that will flatter her the most. [/cs_text][cs_text]

Are you the first designer who did this in wedding?

I really do not know. My very first collection was for 2013 but Rene, my husband, and I started forming the idea in 2011.

Back then, I was getting a lot of inquiries from overseas brides and stockists, most of them clamoring for basically the same designs. And those designs I cannot repeat since those were custom dresses. I was also getting a lot of requests for lower priced gowns: I was getting more than 30 inquiries a day, working on so many dresses too, and I am losing my time for my family. I have 4 growing kids and I need more time.

So creating an RTW line was the most logical idea. I can address the overseas brides and the stockists with designs that we can replicate. And the concept wasn’t new to them. I actually didn’t intend before to offer it here because why would I? I love that brides here can get custom dresses from the neighborhood modista or from tight-lipped high profile designers and wear a dress specially made for them. I didn’t want to change that culture.

But then, when I was done with the very first set, I thought why wouldn’t I offer it to local brides. Parang nakakahiya naman. Ang snob?!? Hahaha! So we did! And I am continuously floored with the response that we’re getting from local brides. I am beyond grateful. [/cs_text][cs_text]

How many pieces per collection? Any science behind it?

8 or 9 per year, no science behind it. I design and create as I see fit, every dress well thought off. With the current market/demand I aim to serve, I think 8 or 9 as new options are enough. Especially since the dresses from the past years are still available. 🙂

What is the process, what comes first? fabrics? design? name?

Usually I think of a detail or a design element that I want to work on. Then I choose the materials that I think will be perfect in achieving the look that I want.

How do you name them?

Of course it started with the girls and ladies in my life. I still have more than a handful of those really close to me whose names I haven’t used. I look at a dress and name her based on how it looks. The character of the name and the dress should match perfectly.

There are times that I lose myself in the process though at yun ang mahirap! Hahaha! Best example, my Mom! I’ve wanted, for the longest time, to name a dress after her but I always end up saying “hindi sya yan eh! Lace mom ko, collared, classic crisp skirt!” Ahahaha! Pinersonal?[/cs_text][cs_text]

You have a favorite?

A lot! But I will only name two 🙂

BITHIA from the 1st collection. I named it after my daughter. It was the simplest from that batch. Plain top just delicate lace on the lining’s neckline, no back detail which was all the craze then along with heavily textured skirts, instead the beading was just on the waist, layered tulle skirt, sans embellishments too. That was exactly how I saw her at the time I designed that dress – not fussy at all, simple but not boring, sweet yet unconforming. Not that I can see her as a bride na ha! No way please! But her character inspired me 🙂

And the VIVIAN gown, my best seller up to now! This enthralls me no end because it is also the very first one I sketched the minute we decided we will push thru with our RTW line. [/cs_text][cs_text]

Since this is RTW do you allow the bride to pick a design even if there’s another one that could be better on her?

Fortunately more often than not, the brides can easily “read” the dress. They see the character it evokes. They can decide if the dress is them or not. More often than not, the concern is the figure. We usually ask which one she fancies, then we check her figure if the design will work for her figure. If it won’t, we suggest other styles that will compliment her best.

There was one instance that one bride was so insistent on a particular dress that I was 100% sure won’t work given her figure. I let her try on the fitting garments with the silhouette that she wanted and the silhouette I want, and she saw the difference. Buti na lang! Haha! Otherwise, I won’t sell her what she wanted. I always want the best for them. Why would I allow her to look hideous di ba? I want her to look her best wearing our dress! [/cs_text][cs_text]

How involved are you with RTW clients?

Oh I have trained my assistants to identify figures, but for those that I wasn’t able to meet in person, whether overseas or Manila-based, I ask for full length pictures of the brides wearing tight fitting shirts. That way I can identify the gowns that will compliment them the most. I check all the fitting pictures too, and of course, the overall workmanship. [/cs_text][cs_text]

Did the onslaught of RTW line of other designer flatter you or infuriate you?

You know, I try my best, nah, I try my darnest not to look at other people’s work as something related to me or to my work because I refuse to be peppered with negative thoughts. RTW is the norm overseas and we do have a lot of overseas Filipino workers who are somehow familiar with the system. Coupled with designer horror stories locally, I think the growth of RTW here is not that surprising. It took us more than a year to perfect the system – from the meas, fittings, to the finishes, construction, etc. I had my good reasons when I started this RTW line and I am sure they have too. It is what it is, we just have to consistently improve our craft, swim with the current flow and hopefully get our fair share. Happy thoughts lang lagi! Hahaha! [/cs_text][cs_text]

Aldub Prenuptial Shoot: The Inside Story

[cs_content][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]Everyone’s talking about Alden and Maine’s prenup photos recently released online. For a “reel” prenup, it definitely looked like the real deal and gave Aldub fans something to be “kilig” about. But what is the story behind the shoot?

Today, we share with you some insider information straight from Manny and April, of Manny and April Photography, the photographers behind this fabulous prenup shoot.

How did you get the gig? Did Eat Bulaga contact you directly about the shoot?

MAP: I had a call Friday night around 10pm from coordinator, Mosh Cruz of Event Laboratory Events Management, asking if we are available to shoot AlDub’s prenup the next day, Saturday. Medyo nabingi pa ako kung sino yung client. Hahaha. I needed to double check that we’re talking about Alden and Maine! *FYI shoot was moved to Monday, October 17*

Is this your first time to shoot a ‘reel’ pre-nup? Is there a difference from a ‘real’ prenup?

MAP: Yes, first time. The only difference is the time limit and the rest, it feels like our other prenup shoots.

Who conceptualized the pre-nup shoot?

MAP: We were briefed by Direk Pat and Mosh of Event Laboratory on their concept when we arrived at the location. We just coordinated the sequence of layout and in what particular area to shoot. I loved working with Direk Pat and Mosh. MAP: Call time namin was at 8am.  We started to shoot at 10:30am but Alden and Maine had to leave for Eat Bulaga at 11:30am. Second set resumed at 2:30pm and we had 1 and half hours para matapos lahat kasama na dun ang change of clothes and make-up retouch. Mosh of Event Laboratory did a great job coordinating everything.

Who were present during the shoot? Were any family members there?

MAP: No family members. Puro suppliers and staff of Eat Bulaga.

Were you guys nervous?

MAP: Yes, we were!  As in, sa kapogian ni Alden. Lols!

Did they just do the poses on their own or did someone guide them?

MAP: We guided them on what to do just like our other shoots.[/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/AldubPrenupInsideStory4.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]Who thought of the headstand pose and the pillow fight?

Was it really that obvious during the shoot?

MAP: They were natural and very comfortable with each other. You can see it sa photos and some BTS videos that are circulating around Twitter and Instagram.

Were they easy to work with? Makulit rin off-cam?

MAP: Super fun kahit off-cam!  Ang kulit ni Alden and Maine.  They are both easy to work with and I can say everyone had fun.[/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_video_player type=”16:9″ src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/AlDub_Manny-and-April-Photography-BTS-4-1.mp4″ hide_controls=”false” autoplay=”true” no_container=”false” preload=”auto” advanced_controls=”false” muted=”false” loop=”false” poster=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/AlDub_Manny-and-April-Photography-BTS-4-1.mp4″][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]Were they really sweet with each other or was it just for the camera?

MAP: Yes.

If they weren’t actors and regardless of their status, did Alden and Maine look like any other bride or groom?

MAP: Yes.

Kinikilig ba kayo during the shoot? How did you control yourselves?

MAP: BIG YES! Though yung feeling na yun nung on location na si Alden and Maine.  Nung nadun na sila, napalitan yung kilig to “we need to deliver”.  Andun yung pressure e! We had limited time on our 2nd to 4th set.  We prayed that with the given time na we could get the photos we wanted.[/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/AldubPrenupInsideStory5.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]Did it feel like a prenup shoot or did it really feel like a corporate job?

MAP: It felt like a prenup shoot. 🙂

What surprised you about this shoot?

MAP: The moment Maine mentioned our name sa TV, my Instagram account went crazy and it just goes and goes and goes!   Iba ang love ng AlDubNation with Alden and Maine.  I also had calls from suppliers and fans.  Nasurprise din ako na may neighbors kami na pumunta pa sa bahay namin because fan sila ng AlDub.

Special thanks to April and Mosh for making this happen! Click here to see Alden and Maine’s prenup photos.[/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][/cs_content]

This prenuptial shoot was shot this October 17. By October 18 it already  debuted on TV on Eat Bulaga’s KalyeSerye, Aldub. It just goes to show that  if you work with professionals they can do their thing with eyes shut. Watch out for the wedding coming in a few days!

WaW Before I Do: Sex Is Important

[cs_content][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]Sex is a gift from God for married couples.  It was made for the primary purpose of procreation.  Sex helps couples learn to become one flesh – therefore it is designed to build intimacy and pleasure. It also serves as protection within the marriage from outside temptations and hazards. Sex is beautiful and powerful if activated within its proper function.

Sex before marriage is the cheap imitation of the real one.  First, it will make you believe that you are in search of the “sexually compatible one”.  Then the world dictates that you are missing out when you don’t test it out.  It also promises to make your relationship grow deeper and move to the more serious level of your relationship. These lies are selling like hot cakes because while people are not talking about it, it is a walking epidemic trend. You can tell by how many people go haywire after a failed relationship.[/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/SexIsImpt3.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]Unfortunately, we bought the lie and we can personally tell you that though sex before marriage may be pleasurable, it actually ends up as a curse. It seems very exciting in the beginning because it is done in secret, in the heat of spice and so called romance. It really binds two people together for “no purpose”. There is no real commitment that seals the relationship therefore it opens itself to sickness, pain, infidelity and even unwanted pregnancy.  Sex before marriage destroys the purity of a person not just physically but even emotionally.  Women who come out of disastrous sexual relationships – are never the same. They battle with finding their identity, insecurity, worthlessness, low self-esteem, self-condemnation and even jealousy.  They are so broken that they end up having very poor choices in relationships in the desire to find love. Men on the other hand, develop an appetite to have more of it and without self-control can lead themselves to being slaves of their own flesh.

This is why sex is not to be taken lightly. Sex must be given importance because it can lose its power when you enter into marriage. Many couples who engage in pre-marital sex have confessed that when they got married, sex became dry and monotonous.  They started also to look for romance and spark that they had when they were doing it “illegally”.  That gives them more temptation now to look over the fence and start walking on the edge to see if there is something more to their sex life in marriage.  This is the trap that many couples get into because they sold themselves short out of their own blessings.

If you have messed up and you’re about to get married, what should you do?

We encourage you to have a healthy discussion about keeping the purity of your relationship by holding sex sacred through abstaining till God grants you marriage. Being engaged to be married still does not give you the license to do it.  If you really love the person, then you are willing to wait to do it at the right time.  There is no wisdom when the person says “If you love me, you will prove it by giving yourself to me.” The truth is that person does not love you at all. They love only themselves.  In marriage you cannot be selfish.  Marriage requires you to be constantly selfless. So if that person really loves you, then they can wait because you are worth waiting for.[/cs_text][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://weddingsatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/SexIsImpt2.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][cs_text]We encourage you to pray together to help you stay focus on the end goal. The end goal is to be able to experience the joy and fulfillment of sex within marriage.  Many couples who have stumbled and want to do it right, will experience some form of “withdrawal syndrome”. Some start to get insecure and anxious that their partner might cheat on them so they start behaving in a very unusual manner. Some will argue and fight because they are trying to stay in control.  This is where you will need God to step in and let Him walk with you in victory. It is very possible to be a conqueror! It will not be an easy time… But hang in there — there is great treasure awaiting at the start of your marriage.

We encourage you to focus on how to be a great spouse instead of focusing on your partner.  Make sure that you are ready to take the role of husband or wife.  If you don’t know how to cook, start learning. If you need to know how to handle finances start taking classes. Surround yourself with godly married people who can teach you the ropes in marriage.  Learn as much as you can. Find yourselves godly accountability couples that can help you walk the right path into marriage.

While waiting, prepare to have the best sex ever.  In other words, prepare yourself to be one with your spouse. Physically, start exercising and eating right. Emotionally – keep your heart, eyes, mind and mouth pure. Think of things that are positive, things that build each other up, things that are beautiful. Live it and speak it out.  Spiritually – offer your marriage to be used by God. Connect yourself with the Lord so you can see His great plan for your life.

Sex is beautiful. Sex is important.  It’s your gift to claim in marriage. Get the full load of its blessing by not having it any other way.

We thought it’s about time we share some of them here on the blog.

We surveyed some of the WaWies and asked them to share their prenup locations and photos. We received a LOT of entries, from local prenup locations to those abroad. For now, let us share with you those who had their prenup shoots in venues within Metro Manila.
