Aldub Prenuptial Shoot: The Inside Story

For a “reel” prenup, it definitely looked like the real deal and gave Aldub fans something to be “kilig” about. But what is the story behind the shoot?

Today, we share with you some insider information straight from Manny and April, of Manny and April Photography, the photographers behind this fabulous prenup shoot.

How did you get the gig? Did Eat Bulaga contact you directly about the shoot?

MAP: I had a call Friday night around 10pm from coordinator, Mosh Cruz of Event Laboratory Events Management, asking if we are available to shoot AlDub’s prenup the next day, Saturday. Medyo nabingi pa ako kung sino yung client. Hahaha. I needed to double check that we’re talking about Alden and Maine! *FYI shoot was moved to Monday, October 17*

Is this your first time to shoot a ‘reel’ pre-nup? Is there a difference from a ‘real’ prenup?

MAP: Yes, first time. The only difference is the time limit and the rest, it feels like our other prenup shoots.

Who conceptualized the pre-nup shoot?

MAP: We were briefed by Direk Pat and Mosh of Event Laboratory on their concept when we arrived at the location. We just coordinated the sequence of layout and in what particular area to shoot. I loved working with Direk Pat and Mosh. MAP: Call time namin was at 8am. We started to shoot at 10:30am but Alden and Maine had to leave for Eat Bulaga at 11:30am. Second set resumed at 2:30pm and we had 1 and half hours para matapos lahat kasama na dun ang change of clothes and make-up retouch. Mosh of Event Laboratory did a great job coordinating everything.

Who were present during the shoot? Were any family members there?

MAP: No family members. Puro suppliers and staff of Eat Bulaga.

Were you guys nervous?

MAP: Yes, we were! As in, sa kapogian ni Alden. Lols!

Did they just do the poses on their own or did someone guide them?

Was it really that obvious during the shoot?

MAP: They were natural and very comfortable with each other. You can see it sa photos and some BTS videos that are circulating around Twitter and Instagram.

Were they easy to work with? Makulit rin off-cam?

MAP: Super fun kahit off-cam! Ang kulit ni Alden and Maine. If they weren’t actors and regardless of their status, did Alden and Maine look like any other bride or groom?

MAP: Yes.

Kinikilig ba kayo during the shoot? How did you control yourselves?

MAP: BIG YES! Though yung feeling na yun nung on location na si Alden and Maine. Nung nadun na sila, napalitan yung kilig to “we need to deliver”. Andun yung pressure e! We had limited time on our 2nd to 4th set. What surprised you about this shoot?

MAP: The moment Maine mentioned our name sa TV, my Instagram account went crazy and it just goes and goes and goes! Iba ang love ng AlDubNation with Alden and Maine. I also had calls from suppliers and fans. Nasurprise din ako na may neighbors kami na pumunta pa sa bahay namin because fan sila ng AlDub.

Since day one when I met Ali and Cristine they have made it clear how they want their wedding to be simple. In fact, the first plan was to have it at the backyard of their new home.

I was not sure at that point if we could pull that off given their celebrity status. But to my surprise, that was exactly what happened last January 27 in Balesin island.

They planned to delay the big wedding because they had a lot on their plate right now, then they called last December to have an intimate wedding in Balesin along with the pictorial.

With just 24 guests, no fancy gown or designer shoes, no fireworks or live music, no make up artist or hairstylist, no ceremony or reception grand set up, even sans all that’s grand, but the wedding came out totally totally perfect.

January 26
Day started so early around 6am and we flew to Balesin island 🙂 with just 24 guests, 5 crew from nice print team. There was no other supplier in tow but our team :):)

We landed in the beautiful island and shortly after lunch we started to explore the island and prepared for our pre wedding shoot.

We started the pre-wedding shoot around 3 pm.
I was at an awe to see Cristine in a simple dress with absolutely no make up, and hair just washed not even blow dried. Wow! Just wow!

Aside from the fact that she is truly beautiful sans make up, it was amazing how this celebrity can be confident to face the cameras without make up.

With no make up artist, no styling group with us and no pegs, just two people madly deeply in love. ️

And so the day January 27 started around 8am att Villa 17, the villa of the couple.

We are so used to weddings having an early call time for preparations, I was so surprised to find out that we were only to be at their villa a little over an hour before her walk down the aisle.

They were that relaxed.

Around 8am, when I called Cristine, she was casually having a relaxed breakfast at the clubhouse and Ali was having a quick haircut also at the clubhouse. They were that spontaneous and that relaxed. Wow! Just wow! 🙂

And so when they went back to their villa, they only took less than an hour to prepare and Cristine inspite of no make up artist/ hairstylist was sooooo beautiful :)!

Around 930 am BTS iPhone shots of the ceremony area. Look at how simple the set up is. No backdrop no flower arrangements. It was as simple as it could be but it was so beautiful.

“Shooting any celebrity may be daunting at first because they simply are what they are – stars,” says Arlene. She admits that she and her team had some notions prior to the shoot, but the actress’ arrival at the shoot proved more refreshing than they expected.

“You’d think a celebrity would usually come with an entourage,” says Arlene, “but she quietly arrived with a personal assistant and that’s when the makeup artists & stylists starting adding more magic on her.”

The photo shoot took only two hours as according to Arlene, Pauleen was easy to work with.

“A boudoir shoot is like a dance between a woman and the photographer and Pauline was easy to direct. As with any normal boudoir shoot we have, women would naturally start moving on their own, which was she did and we just snapped away. For most women, confidence builds up during a shoot but for Pauleen it was already inherent to begin with,” she says, clearly impressed by her subject.

“Up close & personal she is very classy and we’re glad to have taken part in her journey to one of the biggest milestones of her life,” Arlene adds.

Pauleen did not have a hand in the concept of her bridal boudoir. Arlene explains, “She left the concept up to us which was Old Hollywood and Nostalgic. We had an old theatre to work with, and some movies playing on the projector.”

She continues, What was different for this shoot was that it wasn’t done in a bedroom (where most boudoir shoots are done) but in a old theatre which we thought fit Pauleen’s showbiz life perfectly.”

We asked Arlene how the entire experience was like working with Pauleen and her take was: “In every portrait shoot, we get a glimpse of the real person in front of the lens, we can usually see it in their eyes, their smile, the way they move.”

Arlene continues. “We loved how this shoot was a little toned down. When someone is really that beautiful & sophisticated, you don’t need to show that much skin to exude sexy. Which boils down to what we want boudoir to be all about – comfortable in your own skin, whatever you’re wearing, wherever you are.”

WaWparazzi: Princess Sarah Is Engaged!

We’re talking about Camille Prats, the actress who brought the much-loved cartoon character Princess Sarah to life. Last July 18, she said yes to the marriage proposal of her non-showbiz boyfriend VJ Yambao after two years of being together.

This would be her second marriage. Camille was first married in 2008 to Anthony Linsangan. The union bore a son named Nathaniel Caesar. Anthony, however, succumbed to nasopharyngeal cancer in 2011.

But love found her again and she met VJ. They officially became an item in December 2013.

The back story

VJ and I would casually talk about his plans to propose few weeks after the wedding of John Prats and Isabel Oli last May. He had great exciting plans for the proposal. There were a lot of ideas that came up but at the end of it all, one thing was evident–VJ wanted it to be very special for Camille.

He was very sure of three things. One, it had to be in Nayomi resort, which is owned by the Prats family, because this is a place close to the hearts of the Prats family, including Camille

Two, VJ wants all the family members and close friends of Camille to be present.

Three, Nathan, Camille’s son from her first marriage, had to be part of the big proposal.

Most memorable moments

There were so many tear-jerking and heartwarming moments during the marriage proposal. The top moments for me were:

One, when Nathan shed tears of joy while watching the AVP prepared by VJ.

Two, seeing Camille cry all throughout the surprise, most especially when she was still unsure of what was happening upon entering the venue, and yet she was already shedding buckets of tears. It was such a beautiful moment.

Three, when Camille hugged her dad. It was such a touching father-daughter moment.

Four, when Camille said, “Tonight, my little boy and I got engaged to VJ.” It’s so touching to know that Nathan will also find a new dad in VJ.

WaWparazzi: The Elvis-Alexa Gutierrez Wedding

Last June 26, 2015, Elvis Gutierrez, one of the six kids of power couple Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama tied the knot in Santuario de San Antonio Parish in Forbes Park.

Groom Elvis was emotional and teary-eyed all throughout the processional. His parents Eddie and Anabelle and Richard look on.

In the speech of Richard the best man, he mentioned that 3.5 months in a year, Elvis and twins Richard/Raymond become triplets since they were born only nine months apart.

Elvis and Alexa have been a couple for the last nine years and the most challenging times were the time when Alexa had to move to the US to study. Elvis would often visit her there during those times. They said the long-distance relationship made their relationship stronger.

What a huge gigantic beautiful cake it was!

The Bethany dream cakes creation drew inspiration from the concept that the bride herself chose. It’s a cake that’s cut in the middle adorned with soooo many fresh pastel flowers.

Alexa hand picked her bridesmaids and maids of honor consisting of family and best friends. Her now sister-in-law Ruffa was one of the maids of honor. Also part of the entourage Sarah Lahbati, Richard Gutierrez’ girlfriend along with her other best friend.

A light moment during mass amongst the ninongs : Gov. Chavit Singson, Senator Bongbong Marcos, Senator Tito Sotto and former President Joseph Estrada.

Show-stealer and crowd favorite Zion was such a cute ring bearer.

The handsome and debonair Gutierrez men namely: Groom Elvis, dad Eddie and brothers Tonton, Richard, Monching and Raymond plus nephews of the groom, David and Zion.

Ruffa, who is the only girl in the Gutierrez children, is always always the life of the party. She is the “ate,” whom all of the Gutierrez boys look up to. They always describe her as the most generous and most supportive.

Mommy Anabelle happily looks on as the two were pronounced husband and wife. During her speech, mommy Anabelle was not hiding the fact that Elvis is her most favorite child. She said that Elvis is such a kindhearted boy and that he will always be her baby. She fondly calls Elvis Taba or Bobot.

A light moment amongst the legend Eddie Gutierrez, Anabelle Rama and their kumpare former President Joseph Estrada.

These two are always sweet and generous with their appreciation of our photo/video output and hard work that’s why I truly love them 🙂 They are the key as to why I was able to start being trusted with the photo/video needs of the Gutierrez family. My first-ever coverage for them was the much talked about coming out/birthday/baptism of Zion. 🙂 Since then we have been capturing numerous events for them including, the birthdays of Ruffa, Zion (including his pre-birthday shoot,) Sarah, Venice and Annabelle Rama.

Paul Soriano, Toni Gonzaga Holds Second Pre-Wedding Shoot

We all loved the National Museum-themed pre-wedding shoot of director Paul Soriano and actress Toni Gonzaga. But the couple has another idea in mind–a second pre-wedding shoot with Pat Dy. We asked Pat Dy for some inside scoop regarding this pre-wedding. shoot.

When did the couple approach you for the pre-nup shoot?

Matagal na from the date Toni asked if I was free for her wedding. Sadly, I wasn’t available before so we discussed about having the prenup shoot.

What happened in the first encounter?

We’ve been friends way before pa. We shot a few covers of Toni. We met and shot Paul before, too.

What was the theme of the shoot or video? What is the significance of the theme?

To be as relaxed and simple as possible since I’ve shot Toni always with a glam team for her covers etc. Para maiba and Paul is a very chill, laidback person. He is more comfy shooting in a relaxed environment.

Other themes that were discarded?

It was just that theme or another concept theme that didn’t push through for another editorial magazine.

How were they as subject of the photo/video? What were your impressions?

We just had fun since I know both of them already from previous shoots. I do know that their love for God is very, very evident. You can sense it in how they talk the moment we started relaxing in between takes and right after the shoot. I even met Paul’s parents that day. I had the same impression–solid family with a very strong Christian foundation. I’m pretty sure their marriage will be very successful due to their love of God.

Any other inside kwento?

Mabait sila super. No yabang at all. Very chill. We had fun shooting for an hour since yun na lang yung time nila from their hectic sked. I just came back from the US and nag-text siya if I was free to shoot them the day after. Of course, I said yes.

Toni Gonzaga, Paul Soriano and their Pre-Wedding Shoot

Metrophoto has just released the pre-wedding photos of director Paul Soriano and actress Toni Gonzaga! We asked Oly Ruiz, the genius behind Metrophoto, for what went on during the pre-wedding shoot!

When did Paul Soriano and Toni Gonzaga approach you for their pre-nup shoot?

Oly: We talked about shooting the pre-nup very early on. Our first meeting was several months ago.

Are you also doing their wedding?

Oly: Yes, Metrophoto is the official wedding photographer for the wedding.

What was the theme of the shoot? What’s the significance? Were there other themes that were discarded?

Oly: Toni fell in love in the character of the National Museum when they shot a TV ID for ABS-CBN there. It’s one of her top choices for her prenup shoot location.

What were your suggestions?

Oly: We discussed several themes including out-of-the country shoots but due to schedule conflicts we decided to shoot this one instead.

What happened during the shoot?

Oly: The National Museum is very strict with their policy and they didn’t allow us to shoot inside the galleries. But we made the best of the situation by making a gallery out of the places they allowed us to shoot. We prepared our own busts and paintings to create an in-gallery feel outside the galleries.

The shoot only lasted one and a half hours. That says a lot on how they are as subjects. Straightforward and a very handsome couple!

Any other inside kwento?

Oly: I love how Toni is such a Metrophoto bride. Up for anything really. We asked her to sit up on one of the posts and she climbed up even before we started preparing the stepper she could have used.

Yung solo ni Toni na nakahawak sa painting? It was partly to keep it from falling. Hehehehe!

WaWparazzi: The John Prats-Isabel Oli Wedding

Who doesn’t remember the flash-mob style surprise proposal of John Prats to Isabel Oli last Sept. 24, 2014? It all started there, and the wedding planning began.

The concept of the Four Seasons is something accidental. I was discussing with John and Liv (Isabel’s nickname) about the concept for the prenuptial shoot and it started with the idea that they will shoot in the US. Since there was a planned Prats family trip to the US, and Isabel was going to join them, there we two agenda for the trip: 1) to find the perfect wedding gown and 2) to do their prenup shoot.

And because the shoot will be in Big Bear, it was going to be a winter-themed shoot. From there, we all agreed that we would do a four seasons-themed prenup so there will be a connection amongst the four concepts.

We all thought it was a great beautiful and unique concept that we decided to use it for the whole wedding theme.

Below is copy of the invitation made by Print Divas, where the Four Seasons theme was shown, too.

The couple went on a very strict diet since January 2015. They were both into boxing and eventually reached their desired weight. John even had to go on a “Subway” diet, wherein he only ate Subway sandwiches everyday for a few weeks. Yes, this meant Subway for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Here’s a trivia that not much people know. The Christian ceremony area was to be converted into reception area in just 20 to 30 minutes. That was such a big challenge for the whole team! Fortunately, the teams of Juan Carlo Catering and Teddy Manuel were able to transform this area successfully and swiftly.

The cake is a suspended cake from the ceiling. Each of the satellite cake tells the story on how the John and Liv met until the time they got engaged in Eastwood and to their wedding day.

Unknown to many, John and Liv started their courtship via social media site Instagram. This is why why it’s on the first cake icon!

John saw Isabel on one of GMA new TV’s programs and he found her really pretty. He then asked his sister Camille to hook him up with Isabel. He also started greeting Isabel thru the comment box in her Instagram posts. He started posting in public “Hi, crush!” and many more cute and sweet messages 🙂

Also, this cake was the only design choice of the bride. There was no other option but this. 🙂

Did you know that this beautiful breathtaking property in Balete, Batangas where the wedding was held, is owned by John Prats and his family? They been developing this for the last three years and really tried their best to finish the development in time for John and Isabel’s wedding. It’s called Nayomi Resort and Sanctuary and it will soon be open to the public.

During the reception party, this was one such kilig moment. Binibining Pilipinas Universe MJ Lastimosa won in the bouquet game. Since the couple knew MJ has a crush on actor Sam Milby, John decided not to push through with the garter toss game. The couple decided to just surprise MJ (and the guests) and declared Sam as the winner of the garter game.

Isabel lost her father some three years ago. She wanted so much to honor her dad during her most special day, hence, she thought of putting these charms with her dad’s pic and a saying, “We know you’d be here today if heaven weren’t so far away.” In her speech to honor her parents, Isabel talked to her father, “Dad, it’s never the same since you were gone. There’s not a day that I didn’t think of you, Dad, and I miss you so much.”

The groom with his best men and best lady 🙂

John and Angelica have been the best of friends for a looong time already. They call each other “Petty.” In Angelica’s speech, she said that many wonder how they could have maintained a platonic relationship all these years, and some even think there’s something more to their relationship. But they’ve proven everyone wrong. Their friendship is really a solid kind of friendship that lasts the test of time. Angelica also said that indeed, Isabel was the answered prayer of John.

But before we present our top choices, we need to grab this chance to extend our appreciation to all the photographers who participated — both well known and up-and-coming – for trusting us with their choice images from last year.

Choosing only 11 photographs out of the countless sent to us was no easy task. Afterall, the photographers sent us the best very of their best. Few images below already made an impact on us the first time we saw them prior to this feature. Yet they still stand out among the many submissions. While more than half in this collection we only saw as we were compiling which images to include in this feature.

Our selection process is not based on any technical criteria. We judge them based solely on the picture’s ‘wow factor.’ You’ll be surprised that most of the shots here are locations just within the Metro. While the more ‘exotic’ looking locations are just a day trip away from Manila!

11 Best Vows of 2011!

We know that not all personal wedding vows are always captured for the onsite video. We also admit that we haven’t seen and heard all the greatest exchange of vows the past year. But for the past couple of days, we’ve definitely heard a lot of good ones as shared to us by wedding videographers and W@Wies alike.

More than the visual aspect of these videos, we listened intently as these couples exchange promises to each on their wedding day. Good editing definitely helps – with choice soundbites blended seamlessly with the music. But the heart & soul of these wedding videos are the words uttered. Some of these vows are funny, while others are heartfelt; while even some managed to be both at the same time! The marriage vows included in our list were either read, memorized, recited impromptu, or even adlibbed. But no matter how they were said, ALL are very personal. A glimpse into the couple’s story.
