Marc & Phoebe Aviles are two award-winning Pinoy photographers and the husband-and-wife tandem who recently setup the Memory Station Studio based in San Jose, California. Both of them are currently featured as Member(s) of the Month in the April edition of the Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) newsletter. Here’s an excerpt from their interview in the article entitled “Two is Company“ written by Margaret Lane detailing the couple’s style as wedding photographers: “Our signature look is to incorporate landscape or scenery along with the couple and let the colors shout. Marc is a great landscape and nature photographer who has a knack for making the most of these outdoor settings and putting couples at ease,” says Phoebe. Marc even shared about a new look they’re dabbling in, calling it “an investment in infrared photography.” He elaborates, “Using a Canon 20D, which we converted to an infrared, we take the shot even further to produce surreal or ethereal moods. We added this look after falling in love with the eeriness and mysterious feel of the infrared shots. The trees and leaves become reflected in the sunlight differently and give a different impression, the skin becomes flawless, the brown eyes become …

(via GMANews.tv) Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales on Sunday said he was dismayed by recent move of the National Statistics Office (NSO) to require all solemnizing officers to undergo training before conducting any wedding ceremonies. “We understand the concern of NSO because we also know of abuses done by the so called ministers of the Gospel (not priests), but they should not be like that to us, as if we know nothing,” Rosales said. According to Rosales, the Catholic Church had been performing marriage for more than 2,000 years now and it is really disheartening on their part. “The truth of the matter is we have been solemnizing weddings for 2,000 years already and now they are going to teach us how? Now we are going to see who is really more capable,” Rosales said in an interview. Rosales, who is also the head of the Commission on Clergy of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) noted that while he understands the decision of the government, it should however not be made to appear as if they know nothing as priests. Aside from the subject and the accompanying image for this entry, I must admit that nothing else in this post is wedding-related. This is actually just a random thought about The Simpsons Movie as one of us is a BIG fan of the show. Though there was a part in the movie when Homer was watching their wedding video, this is not the point of this post. The film is entertaining not in the big Hollywood blockbuster kinda way, but the creators clearly had fun making the movie with the intention to sometimes mess up with the audience. Don’t expect much, it’s the TV show on the big screen. If this weekend you’re already in Megamall visiting the Wedding Congress, why not hit the cinemas afterward to watch. It’s fun! More of my random thoughts about the movie here.
Included in Lea Salonga‘s latest album — Inspired — is her official wedding song “Two Words.” The Broadway star first sung the song in her wedding back in January of 2004 as she serenaded her groom — Robert Chen — just before reciting her vows. Composed by Louie Ocampo and penned by Freddie Santos as a wedding gift to the couple, the album version was arranged by her brother, Gerard Salonga. Inspired is currently available in record bars and can be pre-ordered now via Amazon (release date on Thursday: Feb. 22). Read its lyrics below. You’d get to hear the song from the YouTube video below which includes clips from their actual wedding. TWO WORDS (music by Louie Ocampo, lyrics by Freddie Santos) In a while, in a word Every moment now returns For a while, seen or heard How each mem’ry softly burns Facing you who brings me new tomorrows I thank God for yesterdays How they led me to this very hour How they led me to this place Every touch, every smile you have given me in care Keeping heart, always I’ll now be treasuring everywhere And if life should come to just one question Do …

Our very own, Lea Salonga is on the cover of the Fall 2004 issue of Inside Weddings — the insider’s guide to weddings with style. For the cover shoot, the Broadway star dons her actual Monique Lhuillier bridal gown which the celebrity designer named “The Lea” in honor of her equally talented Filipina client. The feature is in the Real Weddings section of the magazine and details her wedding vendors, some of which are also celebrated Filipino talents (Juan Sarte, Veloso Brides, Andy Tecson Photography, Rajo Laurel, Lila Almario, etc.). The article also includes several photographs taken by Tecson during the big day itself. The cover story, written by Aimee Manis, entitled “Melody of Love“ retells Lea’s love story with Robert Chien from their first meeting, his proposal, and upto the January 10, 2004 altar date in California. Here’s an except: “Fitting with her vibrant personality, Lea chose a color scheme of deep cranberry and ivory with subtle gold accents for the elegant winter wedding. To the couple’s delight, the florist executed Lea’s vision perfectly, and created a dramatic, elegant scene filled with a huge number of Black Beauty and Black Magic roses. The glorious setting would demand an equally …
